Houston’s Noble Experiment

I just read an EXCELLENT article in City Journal, re Houston's approach to their influx of New Orleans evacuees. 7 months after Katrina, 150,000 New Orleans exiles are still living in Houston. Keep in mind the current population in New Orleans is right at 200,000 people. This means there are almost as many New Orleanians living in Houston as there are in New Orleans!  Houston  inherited many of the social problems that have plagued New Orleans both pre and post-Katrina - however, their approach to these problems is quite inspiring. For a good read and a deeper awareness of the challenges the city of Houston faces post-Katrina, check the article out here.

Hello Beyond Katrina folks,

I have written and recorded a song for New Orleans and the Katrina evacuees entitled "Higher Ground". I am wanting to know if you would be interested in hearing it with the idea that it would be available for use in the anniversary commemoration. I look forward to hearing from you. tom
